Three partners and 10 lawyers have walked out of Romanian firm Nestor Nestor Diculescu Kingston Peterson to set up a standalone practice.

High-profile partners Cristina Filip (energy), Francisc Peli (real-estate) and Carmen Peli (M&A) will form a new firm named Peli Filip, along with the 10 other Nestor Nestor lawyers.

Peli Filip is said to have also hired lawyers from Linklaters’ Bucharest office, which is due to end its association with Miculiti Mihai & Asociatii in November.

The three partners left Nestor Nestor in good faith; Francisc Peli said the departing team merely wants to create a different firm in terms of concept and structure.

“It is their option and we respect it entirely,” said Nestor Nestor managing partner Ion Nestor.

In response to the moves, Nestor Nestor has announced it will change its partnership structure for two practice areas from August 15, transferring management responsibilities and projects to the new practice area co-ordinators.

The M&A practice will continue to be coordinated by senior partner Adriana Gaspar together with Gabriela Cacerea, while Alina Radu will head up the real-estate department.
