Baker & McKenzie has advised Champion Real Estate Investment Trust (Reit) on the capital-raising exercise and acquisition of Langham Place Mall and Office Tower in Hong Kong.

The transaction is valued at $1.65 billion.

Capital raising involved a $600 million internationally-issued convertible bond, a $379 million international equity placement and a term loan of $314 million.

Hong Kong real-estate developer Great Eagle Holdings, the largest unitholder of Champion Reit, was issued $361 million worth of new units.

The Baker & McKenzie team was led by Milton Cheng in Hong Kong. Great Eagle Holdings was represented by JSM.
