Chiomenti has merged with fellow Italian firm Birindelli & Associati, significantly boosting its Asian presence in the process.

Birindelli & Associati has a long and significant presence in Asia, with offices in China, Singapore, Vietnam and, interestingly, North Korea.

Birindelli managing partner Luca Birindelli will leave the firm to move into private equity work in Italy and across Asia.

The combined firm will be named Chiomenti from May 1, and will employ 40 lawyers across Asia, including 30 Chinese-qualified lawyers.
